| Marc Almond | Most people may remember Marc from the Soft Cell days of the 80's but his later career produced such gems as Jackie and Legend. The latter being a collaboration with PJ Proby and the My Life Story string section. A very orchestral feel to most of the music. | Website |

A very simple idea, two slightly scruffy lads with an acoustic guitar, wonderful lyrics and dreamy voices. Members of the MLS strings feature on some of the tracks of their album 'Emoticons', although the EP 'Hello' is a more accessible starting point. | Website |
| Bennet | An ex-MLS support band who are most famous for the anthem 'Mum's Gone To Iceland' but their B-side to 'If You Met Me Then You'd Like Me' the live favourite 'Wanker' is worth a moment of your time. A happy mix of humour and damn fine rock give Bennet a 'Dum Dums' feel. | Website |

Early MLS support band. The lead singer, The Vessel, holds the spirit of David Devant, a victorian parlour magician which maybe how ideas like mirror singing and carrot grating come about. Songs like 'Ginger', 'Ballroom' or the more recent 'Radar' deserve a listen..but with a large pinch of salt! | Website |
| The Divine Comedy | Surely nothing needs to be said about Neil Hannon and his band...but they must be a popular MLSer's other band. With such classics as National Express, Alfie and the theme tunes to Tomorrow's World and Father Ted show their versatility. Just buy 'Secret History - The Best Of TDC' and enjoy. | Website |

"We’re kind of revisiting the sound of the suburbs, but this time we’re bringing Tesco, multi-storey car parks, and multiplexes into it. It’s pop music with an authentic identity." Not only that, but they’re nice to look at. Dumdums are: Josh (lead guitar/vocals), Steve (bass) and Stu (drums). They supported My Life Story on tour in September/October 1999, and the two bands will be reunited at the LA2 on 18th February 2000. Dumdums debut single 'Everything' is due for release on 21st February 2000, and they are currently at work on an album. | Official Site |

Welsh helium-voiced cheeful indie-pop-rock, supported MLS a few years ago. Unfortunately the singles 'If You Really Wanna Know', 'Best Friend' and 'I Can Fly' never gave them the succes the deserve. The album 'Strange' features the MLS String Quartet on a couple of songs. | Website |

| Gretschen Hofner | A very old MLS support band and some of Jake's best friends. Their only album release is 'Maria Callous' and has songs such as 'Judy Garland Life' and 'Crow in Heels' (bizarre thought Paul!). A very acquired taste due to the eclectic lyrics and style (pink leopard skin lounge style) but with perseverance should intrigue and delight. | Website |

| Rialto | Another ex-MLS support band with Louis and his two drummers. The beautiful 'Monday Morning 5:16' and 'Unbelievable' chart hits made Rialto very popular until they were dropped by their label. Jake's favourite band once, who knows now? | Website |

If you like MLS, you must like Ooberman's OTT style, fantasy lyrics and glittery feeling. Danny Popplewell and his band have produced a few drug influenced (must be) songs as '13' , 'Tears from a Willow' and 'Blossoms Falling' (which sounds a WEE bit like The Lightning Seeds). | Official Site |

Brilliant, listen to the LP 'Be A Girl' - garethw@ccm.co.uk | Website |
| The Wonderstuff | A huge success in the 90's only to slip into obscurity...since their split. Two of the biggest hits must be 'Dizzy' with Vic Reeves and 'Welcome to the Cheap Seats' with the MLS strings. | Website |

"Teenage punk rock" or "a Friday night in Halifax" is how they describe themselves. Younger Younger 28s are: Joe (vocals/guitar), Jimmy (keyboards), Andi (vocals), and Liz (vocals).
